On this 8th day of March, may all women have a very happy day, and may the blessing of women be celebrated EVERY DAY of this Life! To all women, Thank You!
But where and how did it all start? Here’s a bit of the history behind the celebration of International Women’s Day.

I, Ricardo Trelles, stand for EQUAL RIGHTS, and applaud all nations, corporations, committees, townships, cities, legislatures, and countries who in one way or another, allow, support, foster, and contribute to the growing incorporation of women to the workplace, education, and society, to fight with equal rights for a better tomorrow. To all women, whatever their country, religion, age, race, language, or ethnicity, Thank You!

In a terribly unequal world, I can’t think of a better solution than Education, to help improve the future of women in this world. One particularly difficult problem is the threat of HIV infection on young girls who are forced to sell their bodies in order to sustain their families. But it’s certainly not the only one: sexual slavery, domestic violence, gender discrimination, etc., also lurk in the shadows, hindering a fair and equal social development for women in many countries. Sad but true.
Education is a game changer, not just in the underdeveloped world, but also in industrialized countries. Using the power of Education, the world can change the outcome of those undesired trends, and this means that today’s girls will be tomorrow’s happy mothers, wives, and females leaders.

Not only do we have to continue fighting for women’s rights, to erase the unfair inequalities that still plague the planet, but we should also recognize–and celebrate–the soft, romantic, supportive, and amicable side of women, because it is mostly women who stand to care for the wounded, the ailing, the sick, the children, and the dispossessed. To all women who give a hand of support to others, in the good times and the bad times, for their emotional support, and their friendship handout, THANK YOU!

But not all the work is done. Although there’s been great progress, sexual abuse, gender discrimination, salary inequality are still a rampant occurrence even western societies in this modern age. The fight for Women’s rights continues, a joint fight of women and men, who believe in the fairness of equal rights. But today, let’s celebrate what’s been accomplished with so much effort and sacrifice. To all women, on this beautiful morning of March 8th, wherever you live, may you all have a HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY!
